Proto Blog Spotlight Stories

Proto at Masters of Scale 2025: AI Innovation, Personified

At this year’s Masters of Scale Summit, where visionary founders and builders gather to spark what’s next, Proto showcased how storytelling and identity can scale through holographic AI.

Our life-size Proto device featured a Conversational AI Persona of Reid Hoffman, built in collaboration with HeyGen using just three minutes of source footage.  The holographic Reid could hold dynamic, multilingual conversations with attendees – switching effortlessly between English, Spanish, and Mandarin.  The experience stunned the crowd and embodied the spirit of the conference: using technology to scale human connection.

Holo-Ted: When History Meets Innovation

At the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, Proto has brought the 26th President to life as a conversational AI avatar – “Holo-Ted.”  Visitors can ask Roosevelt questions and receive real-time, contextual responses drawn from extensive historical literature and research.  This activation demonstrates how institutions can make history interactive and alive.  By combining AI knowledge models with Proto’s holographic presence, students and visitors can converse with history rather than just read about it – opening a new frontier for education, museums, and cultural storytelling.

Advancing the American Dream: Proto at the Milken Center

The newly opened Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream in Washington, D.C. is inspiring visitors with interactive stories of achievement – and Proto is proud to be part of it.  As a featured technology within the museum, Proto allows guests to engage directly with holographic figures who embody the American Dream, including Serena Williams.

Our founder, David Nussbaum, even had the chance to converse with Serena’s AI hologram during the grand opening – a glimpse into how Proto is bringing personal connection to the stories that motivate generations.

Bridging Distance at Verizon’s Healthcare Summit with Holograms + 5G

At Verizon’s Healthcare on Air Summit in San Francisco, Proto showcased how holographic presence can transform virtual participation — and highlighted Verizon’s 5G network in action.

James Kirby, Chief Commercial Officer at Kroger Health, joined the panel live from Cincinnati, 2,500 miles away, engaging seamlessly with attendees on stage.  The demonstration not only illustrated Proto’s ability to enable real-time, interactive conversations – but also underscored Verizon’s cutting-edge connectivity, proving how technology can bridge distance in healthcare leadership and collaboration.

The Conjuring Goes Holographic: Proto & HMN Light Up Malls Nationwide

In partnership with Hologram Media Network, Proto helped Warner Bros. Discovery and Snap Inc. deliver a first-of-its-kind 3D holographic ad campaign for The Conjuring: Last Rites.  Shoppers across Simon, Macerich, and Brookfield malls encountered what looked like an ordinary mirror – until their reflection turned into a cinematic scare.  This interactive experience blended AR, holograms, and live theatre to create the next evolution of digital out-of-home advertising – always on, always immersive, and impossible to ignore.

Extending Stan Lee’s Legacy at LA Comic Con

At LA Comic Con, Proto brought the legendary Stan Lee to life as a conversational AI hologram, allowing fans to interact with him in real time.  The hologram was crafted using footage from Lee’s countless appearances at fan conventions and on red carpets, capturing the humor and personality that made him beloved – even for fans who never met him in person, or only knew him from his iconic Marvel movie cameos.

This immersive experience extended Stan Lee’s legacy, giving his storytelling and charisma a new life for future generations.  The debut was featured in Reuters’ “Tech Weekly,” highlighting Proto’s role in shaping the future of live events, entertainment, and interactive experiences.

Live from Nashville: Dierks Bentley Beams into Louisville Airport

Travelers arriving at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) are getting a first-of-its-kind welcome – a life-sized Proto Luma hologram of country music star Dierks Bentley.  Appearing live from Nashville on launch day, Bentley chatted with fans, answered questions, and shared stories to celebrate the debut of his Row 94 Whiskey activation.  The hologram now continues to greet visitors throughout October, creating a unique fusion of music, bourbon, and technology that turns the airport into an unforgettable destination.
