Proto Gaining Ground, Installed at Amazon’s AI Hub
Entrpreneur’s Sherin Shibu wrote ” The Jetsons a popular TV show from the 1960s, foreshadowed the rise of AI chatbots, video calls, robotic vacuum cleaners — and now holograms. U.S. startup Proto is making waves as the first platform to allow for communication through holograms. The company’s technology appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2022. Jon Bon Jovi’s bar in Nashville, Tennessee added a permanent Proto hologram unit to the premises in June. Proto is steadily making its mark on communication with Amazon using it in an AI hub in San Francisco in August. Also last month, a healthcare facility in West Tennessee became the first to use Proto holograms to bring cancer specialists to patients, so they don’t have to travel far for specialized care.

West Cancer Center Debuts Holographic Doctors

Luxury Hawaiian Hotel Opens with Proto Hologram Concept
Hāmākua Hotel has opened, the first luxury hotel on its side of the Island of Hawaii, and “Hāmākua Hotel is the first hotel to have award-winning Proto mini hologram units in every room and will beam in renowned coaches and experts from around the world. Guests also have exclusive access to a professional production studio where they can write, play music, or record podcasts.”
The Wizards present NBA draft picks via Proto
The Washington Post’s Sapna Bansil wrote “There also have been opportunities to connect with fans, whom Dawkins thanked Saturday for “one, understanding where we’re at on this journey but, two, really embracing these guys.” On Wednesday night, new pick Alex Sarr appeared via hologram at the team’s draft party at Capital One Arena, where thousands of fans filled the lower bowl and showed their enthusiasm for the direction of the franchise.

Jewel’s Hologram Conveys Museum Show Message

Sportico finance lead Brendan Coffey broke the news that retired tennis star Cici Bellis has joined Proto’s recent funding round, as the first investment from her venture fund Cartan Capital. “Our focus is on sports tech and health tech and Proto hits both of those verticals,” Bellis told Sportico. “They’ve had a lot of exposure in sports, sports stadiums, big name professional athletes… we really like the in-stadium and fan engagement angle that Proto brings.”
Target Partners With Jimmy Kimmel on Proto Hologram TV Ad
Karlene Lukovitz reported that Target has bceome the first brand to use Proto hologram technology in a television ad. The long-format (1 minute, 44 seconds) ad, aired during “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” showed startled Target shoppers reacting to what appeared to be Kimmel sidekick Guillermo shrunk down to doll size and talking to them from inside a toy box, courtesy of a hologram beamed into a Proto M unit on the store shelves.
Howie Mandel Surprises Airport Passengers via Hologram
Holiday travelers at the Dayton International Airport last week were surprised to come across a hologram of comedian and reality TV judge Howie Mandel. But even more surprising: this was not a pre-recorded video message — Mandel actually was broadcasting live from a studio in California. Multiple people passing through the airport on Wednesday got to talk with the “America’s Got Talent” host, who was promoting Proto Hologram, which describes itself as the “world’s first holographic communications platform.”

My Daily Korea reporter Kwak Myeong-dong wrote about Proto’s two major activations at the Busan International Film Festival including top theater chain CGV’s “Hi BIFF, High CGV” event which turns visitors into instant holograms via the Proto Epic with magazine cover-style overlays. The ‘Narcissistic Photo Zone’ is part of CJOliveNetworks. Around town Proto could also be seen on the mobile hologram truck created for TV platform Waave. Both activations were created by Proto Korea and Creative Mut.

HITC’s Filiz Mustafa wrote about Tom Segura beaming into Whitney Cummings’ Roast of Bert Kriescher’s Roast on Only Fans TV, calling the experience “Terrifying” because it was so much more real than he expected. Segura beamed from Austin, Texas to the roast in Los Angeles, surprising his buddy Bert by showing up as a hologram in a Porta-Potty, specially constructed around the Proto Epic unit for the gag.
Beam me up, counselor: Hologram witnesses in court
Reuters’ Karen Sloan broke the news that William & Mary’s Center for Legal and Court Technology has spent the past four months experimenting with hologram court witnesses through a partnership with Proto Inc, a California-based hologram company. “I believe it’s radically different than any type of video conferencing we’ve ever used,” said center director Fredric Lederer. Holograms have the potential to make witness testimony more convenient and accessible should courts and administrative agencies adopt the technology, Lederer said.

Proto Hologram used on Late Night Television for First Time
Jimmy Kimmel Live beamed Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt to Disneyland as a live interactive hologram during the show on April 27th to prank theme park guests. It was the first time Proto has appeared on Late Night TV. Previously Proto has been utilised on television on the Today show, America’s Got Talent, The Ellen Show, The iHeartMusic Festival, Whitney Cummings’ Comedy Roast on OnlyFans TV, and others.
Proto is first Hologram company with SOC2 Type 1 Compliance
Proto Inc. announced at CES that it has achieved SOC 2 Type 1 compliance in accordance with American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) standards for SOC for Service Organizations, also known as SSAE 18. Achieving this standard with an unqualified opinion serves as third-party industry validation that Proto provides enterprise-level security for customers’ data and communications on the Proto platform. According to Proto, it’s the only company in the hologram space that has achieved this level of security.
Proto secures patent for hologram platform
The LA start-up Proto now has a U.S. patent for its method of capturing people and subjects on a white screen and relaying that visual in real-time. The patent also notes Proto’s on-board cameras and speakers, making it self-contained and capable of telepresence.
Logan Paul beams to major sports convention via Proto in WWE gear
Wrestlezone’s Bill Pritchard wrote, “Logan Paul recently teamed up with Proto Hologram for an appearance at the National Sports Collectibles Convention to show off his WWE ring gear and the rare Pokemon card he bought for $5.3 million last year. Paul (in hologram form) talks to fans about Liquid Marketplace, which is selling fractional shares of the card itself and the gold holder that Paul uses to wear it in the ring.”
