On her farewell season of The Ellen Show, Ellen talked about Proto in her opening monologue and how she wanted to introduce this “cool new tech.” She then beamed into her studio’s Riff Raff Room to interact with fans — tricking them into thinking she was appearing pre-recorded until she started engaging with them and they were shocked at the realism of the hologram and that and she could see and hear them in real time, making eye contact. The Ellen show has millions of viewers and her Instagram post of this video went out to 121 million followers.
